Vanilla, Banana, and Snickers

My fourth concrete mixer was vanilla, banana, and Snickers. I suppose everybody knows that bananas and chocolate is a tasty combination. Bananas and peanut butter is also very good. Bananas foster is very popular, which is basically bananas and caramel. Given these facts, it would follow that bananas and snickers would make a good concrete mixer.

The first bite was full of banana flavor, which for me was a good thing. As a took more bite, I got chucks of snickers. I expected them to be hard as a rocks, but they surprisingly crumbled in my mouth. It was as it the snickers was hollow inside. In general, the concrete tasted more like bananas and chocolate chunks than bananas and snickers. There were a couple of bit with a hint of peanut and/or caramel, but I could have used more. Overall, it was good, but not great.

Pumpkin Cheesecake

My third concrete mixer was pumpkin cheesecake. It is fall and Culvers was offering some pumpkin flavored treats. For the past couple of years, I have made a pumpkin cheesecake for Thanksgiving, which has been a big hit. As a result, I decided to try it as a concrete mixer.

It was good. Just the right mix of spices and pumpkin. The cheesecake pieces add some good flavor. Overall, not as good as the real thing.

Vanilla, Marshmallow, and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups

My second concrete mixer was vanilla, marshmallow, and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. In 2006, Hershey released a limited edition Reese's Peanut Butter Cup with marshmallow.

It had been a few months between concrete mixers, and I had forgotten the fact that the marshmallow does not add any extra flavor.  Reese's Peanut Butter Cup blizzards have always been one of my favorites, and the concrete version did not disappoint.

Vanilla, Marshmallow, and Hot Fudge

The first concrete mixer that I had was vanilla, marshmallow, and hot fudge. The idea was to replicate dipping marshmallows in chocolate.

The marshmallow gets lost in the vanilla custard base, so it just tastes like a hot fudge sundae. It was good, but nothing special.

Introduction

For most of my life, I have been enjoying Dairy Queen Blizzard. A couple of years ago, I was first introducted to Culver's Concrete Mixer. Culver's Concrete Mixer is on another level compared to a Blizzard.

Recently, I came across Cody and Robyn's Concreations blog which they started June of last year. What a great idea to search for the best mix-in combination! The only thing is they were only able to post one mix-in combination. I would like to take their idea and run with it.

Culver's Concrete Mixers begin with either vanilla or chocolate custard. Normally, one or two mix-ins are then added. The mix-ins are: almond, blueberry, Butterfinger, butterscotch, cashew, chocolate chip cookie dough, Reese's Pieces, Oreo, hot caramel, hot fudge, marshmallow, Heath, peach, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, peanut butter, cherry, rasperberry, M&M, Snickers, strawberry, pecan, peanuts, brownie, Nestle Crunch, sprinkles, cheesecake pieces, pie crust, and Kit Kat.

Here are the combinations that I believe would be really good:
  • Vanilla, Marshmallow, Hot Fudge
  • Vanilla, Banana, Snickers
  • Vanilla, Hot Caramel, Cashew
  • Vanilla, Banana, Heath
  • Chocolate, Marshmallow, Peanuts
  • Vanilla, Raspberry, Cheesecake Pieces
  • Chocolate, Banana, Coconut
  • Vanilla, Coconut, Pie Crust
  • Vanilla, Cookie Dough, Butterscotch
  • Vanilla, Banana, Reese's Peanut Butter Cup
  • Vanilla, Hot Caramel, Brownie Pieces
  • Vanilla, Brownie Pieces, Cookie Dough
  • Vanilla, Strawberry, Banana
Post your suggest combinations in your comments.
